AIP-3 CFP Clarifications

This page contains clarifications on the AIP-3 CFP which was previously been announced.

Clarifications to the Call for Participation document

  •  Can the March 3rd deadline be extended a week?
    • Receiving responses by March 3rd allows us to prepare for the Kickoff Workshop the following week on March 11-12.  In general we need to keep that date fixed.  The CFP will remain open for the duration of AIP-3 so organizations can respond after March 3rd.
    • Its very important that AIP participants attend the kickoff workshop even if they submit a response after March 3rd as that event is the only time that the participants meet face to face.  The plans and design for AIP-3 will be initially established at the kickoff with subsequent discussions via telecons, e-mail and wikis.
  • Where is the template for responses mentioned in the CFP?

Clarifications to the AIP Architecture document

  • An update for Water-Drought Scenario (Section 2.4.7 ) is available
    • Except for minor edits, the main change is the addition of a list of current drought monitors (Princeton global drought monitor, NIDIS, NOAA CPS, etc)  to Section 2.4.7.2.2 (Information Assumed to be Available).
  • An update of the Water Quality Scenario is now available.
    • "This scenario update emphasizes two essential characteristics of water quality monitoring and management activities. First, there is typically an active resident and community engagement, as data providers and event observers, not just information consumers. Supporting this engagement will require a means within GEOSS (or at least community contributed GEOSS components) of accepting and working with user-volunteered inputs.
    • Second, processing and interpretation of water quality-related observations typically occurs over a longer time cycle than management decisions such as beach closures. This has two consequences. It creates a need to develop leading indicators through modeling of historical data. It also emphasizes the benefits of rapidly sharing interim or provisional versions of water quality observations with users who need them, but connecting them with more finished data products as they become available.
  • Replace "Ecole des Mines de Paris" with "MINES ParisTech" in the 20100129_cfp_aip3_architechture.pdf file at the Foreword Section.
