Data Quality DWG Motion - UnCertML

The OGC Members approved release of OGC 08-122r1 “Uncertainty Markup Language” as an OGC Discussion Document.

  • The Uncertainty Markup Language (UncertML) is an XML encoding for the transport and storage of information about uncertain quantities, with emphasis on quantitative representations based on probability theory.

Interoperability Experiment PnP Motion

The OGC Members approved release of a major revision to the OGC Interoperability Experiment Policies and Procedures [05-130r3]

  • Numerous changes. A key change is to provide policy guidance on how to include non-OGC members in an Interoperability Experiment.

Web Coverage Service Standards Working Group release of NetCDF extension

The OGC Members approved release of 09-018 Web Coverage Service (WCS) extension for CF-netCDF encoding, 1.0 as an OGC Discussion Paper

  • This extension of the WCS standard specifies an Information Community data model with the related encoding that may optionally be implemented by WCS servers. This extension enables clients to evaluate, request and use data encoded in CF-netCDF3 format from a WCS server.

The OGC Members approved an electronic vote to approve release of 06-126r2 “Compliance Test Language” version 0.6 as an OGC Best Practices Document

  • Comment: In addition to the enhancements for TEAM 2.0, Chuck Morris and Simone Gianfranceshi have agreed upon a revised version to add encodings for SOAP requests in CTL to be released in a future version of TEAM. 

DocTeam Motion on 06-135r7 – Directives

The OGC Members approved an electronic vote to release OGC 06-135r7 “OGC Standards Writing and Publication Directives” as an OGC Policy Document.

  • This document captures numerous motions and recommendations from the OGC Technical Committee and Planning Committee regarding standards writing and publication best practices, guidance, and rules.

OGC Naming Authority – Policies and Procedures

The OGC Members approved an e-vote to approve 09-046, 09-047, 09-048, 09-049 as OGC Policy Documents

  • "OGC Naming Authority – Policies and Procedures" [09-046]
    • This document describes the procedures used by the OGC Naming Authority for the assignment and registration of OGC names.  This is a new policy document.
  • OGC Naming Authority: "Name type specification - documents" [09-047]
    • This document specifies a rule for constructing OGC names that may be used for identifying documents and elements within a document. This is a new policy document.
  • OGC Naming Authority: "Name type specification - definitions" [09-048]
    • This document specifies a rule for constructing OGC names that may be used for identifying definitions. This document supersedes OGC 07-092r3 "Definition identifier URNs in the OGC namespace". This is a new policy document.
  • OGC Naming Authority" "Name type specification - specification elements" 09-049
    • This document specifies a rule for constructing OGC names that may be used for identifying specification elements defined in the OGC Specification Model – Modular Specification. This is a new policy document.

GeoRM Motion: Release Domain Model

The Technical Committee and the OGC Planning Committee approved the release of the GeoRM Domain Model for public comment on the OGC Network.

New Hydrology Domain Working Group

The OGC Members approved establishment of the Hydrology DWG, according to the charter as described in OGC document 08-095r3.

  • The purpose of the Hydrology DWG is to provide a venue and mechanism for seeking technical and institutional solutions to the challenge of describing and exchanging data describing the state and location of water resources, both above and below the ground surface. The path to adoption will be through OGC papers and standards, advanced to ISO where appropriate, and also through the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) and its Commission for Hydrology (CHy) and Information Systems (WIS) activities.
  • The email discussion list for this Working group is open to public participation.

New Meteorology Domain Working Group

The OGC Members approved establishment of the Meteorology Domain Working Group as described in the charter (09-027).

  • The purpose of the OGC Meteorology DWG is to provide an open forum for work on meteorological data interoperability, and a route to publication through OGC's standards ladder (Discussion paper / Best Practice / Standard, and, if appropriate, to ISO status), thence giving a route for submission to WMO CBS for adoption.
