Session: Initial Operating Capability
This is a session of the GEOSS Architecture Workshop
A Presentation provided the topics for discussion for this session.
Results of the session are in this presentation.
Initial Operating Capability (IOC)
An IOC has been established for GEOSS in November 2007. Several demonstrations portray the IOC functionality.
- Users can access the GEOSS IOC functionality through the GEOSS Web Portal Candidates, Community Portals and Decision Support Clients.
- Providers can register their services as part of the IOC at the GEOSS registry system.
- Developers can view a description of the GEOSS IOC architecture including a map of the Components .
GEOSS Core Architecture Implementation Report
The GEOSS Core Architecture for exchange and dissemination of observations consists of the GEO Web Portal, Clearinghouse, and Registry components along with a process to register, discover and use services accessible using GEOSS Interoperability Arrangements.
The Core Architecture Implementation Report provides an evaluation of the IOC with a particular focus on pilot-level versions of several GEO Web Portals, Clearinghouses and Registries. The report captures a work in progress. The report provides descriptions of the implementations that have been achieved to date as well providing recommendations on how the implementations should continue.
GEO Tasks Contributing to IOC
The GEOSS IOC has been developed by GEO Members and Participating Organizations, predominatly by activities of the following GEO Tasks:
- GEO Registry Deployment - GEO Task AR-07-01
- GEOSS Interoperability Process Pilot Project (IP3) - GEO Task AR-07-01
- GEOSS Architecture Implementation Pilot (AI Pilot) - GEO Task AR-07-02
Workshop Session
During the workshop, a recap of the IOC capabilities will be presented followed by an interactive discussions about the status of IOC.
