S57/GML

S57-GML standard prepared by the IHO Committee on Hydrographic Requirements for Information Systems (CHRIS), for the coding and exchange of hydrographic digital data, including that intended for ECDIS purposes.

In order to encourage further adoption of GML in the hydrogrphic community, the UKHO in association with Galdos Systems Inc has produced an initial version of a GML schema for ENC data. This schema is intended to aid in the representation of S57 Edition 3.1 Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) in GML.

Note: This schema is not connected with work being undertaken by the International Hydrographic Organisation's Transfer Standard, Maintenance and Application Development (TSMAD) working group on the development of S57 Edition 4.
