services, applications, and processes. This was some of Monday's E2E
discussion. Requires both metadata for describing links, and the ability
for fine-grained access to these resources through links
- The AQH group seem interested in leveraging keywords as the easiest
way to start. Doug emphasized trying to figure out how to do links
better in 19115 / 19119 / 19139 - Discussed how to encode terms in metadata which are drawn from
thesauri or ontologies and thus processable for mapping and inference.
Resolvable URI's, namespace references, or both? BTW, I'm pushing the
Semantics WG to start putting down details of their use cases, at least
starting with specialization of the existing ones (e.g. Query metadata
-> Expand metadata query).

- CFP Responses are requested by 3 March in order to prepare for Kickoff Workshop
- Instructions for responding are contained in the CFP
- Comments from organizations preparing a response:
- Jose Esteban commented that EO2HEAVEN was preparing a response regarding Air Quality and Malaria Scenarios. EO2HEAVEN is an FP7 project focused on the application of Earth Observations to health. Their interest is in colera but there may be an overlap with malaria. George Percivall commented that perhaps a common approach for EO data for infectious disease could be developed.
- Juergen Walther commented that BKG will respond to the CFP regarding the BKG catalogues and analysis of metadata that they have done. Josh Lieberman and Juergen have worked on this topic in previous AIP and there can be further progress made. Nadine Alameh asked if the BKG catalogue would be available for registering other resources. Juergen explained that the BKG catalogue is populated with content from German sources including WMS, WFS, SOS, etc.
- Robert Thomas from Compusult described how their GEO portal will be avaialable for use by communities to have a view of the resources relevant to the community. SBA groups can work with the Compusult portal to support their scenarios.
- Lionel Menard of MINES ParisTech described several organizations that will contribute to the Energy scenario including two FP7 projects: EnerGEO and Genesis. George asked if there was a biomass topic in AIP-3 Energy. George will send information to Lionel about a GEOSS workshop later this year on biomass energy.
- Mattia Santoro of CNR commented that they are developing a response that will address two SBAs. The Biodiversity scenario will be addressed from three FP7 projects: EuroGEOSS, GENESIS and a third project. The Drought scenario will be address based upon the EuroGEOSS project. Will Pozzi commented that he was pleased to hear of the Drought contribution and that he would like to coordinate with Mattia and Brad Lee of CSIRO regarding the several drought contributions.
- Roberto Lucci, ESRI, commented that about the enhancements they are making to their GEO Portal in time for AIP-3. The ESRI portal will be a resource to SBA Integrators as a portal and other tools such as the web app: GEO Viewer.
- Didier Giaccobbo, Spot Image, commented on developments from the Disaster Management SBA that will be based on the FP7 project called SAFER. This will support the flooding scenario in the CFP Architecture but can be generalized to the the Disaster Management cycle. George commented that the Extreme Percipitation event can be related to the Disaster Management topics.
- Sri Vinay, CIESIN, indicated that in AIP-3 they will be expanding their population estimation service with improved and more data added over what was done in AIP-2.
- Giuseppe Ottavianelli, ESA, described their considerations about responding to the CFP regarding QA4EO. Giuseppe described QA4EO as developed by CEOS and how it can be relevant to the GEOSS. George commented that there two ways in which QA4EO can be applied to AIP: 1) in the Data Harmonization topic to provide a QA element to the information framework that needs to developed and will result in GEOSS Inteoperability Arrangemetns and Best PRactices, 2) Impmentation of the QA4EO information structures in the components and services that provide data to users, e.g., User Requirements Registry.
