Internet of Things (IoT) and Web of Things (WoT)
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a bold concept that is becoming realized through the ever-increasing embedded computation in common devices, network connectivity reaching to nearly every device, and the success of the web bringing information of all types for our immediate use. IoT allows us to interact with smart objects in a manner similar to how we now interact with web resources in our everyday live.
OGC’s standards for location and for sensor webs are being applied to IoT. In order to refine and advance the application of OGC standards to IoT, OGC has conducted these activities:
- Expanding GeoWeb to an Internet of Things - Workshop, May 2011
- OGC Standards for the Internet of Things - Workshop, November 2011
- IoT and OGC SWE ad-hoc, March 2012
- OGC Mobile Internet Concept Development - OGC IP Project
- OGC Standards for IoT
